European Commission wants more information

With a view to developing concrete recommendations for policy measures with regard to inland waterway transport at a European level, and to ensure compliance with European transport policy priorities, the European Commission (Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport) have issued a tender calling for an organization to:

 

  • Investigate and analyse the current situation of the European inland waterway transport sector in the aftermath of the economic crisis 
  • Analyse the strengths and weaknesses of the sector and 
  • Explore the prospects and potential of inland waterway transport within the European transport system in the medium and long term, taking into account the likely impacts of the economic crisis and the challenges and issues to be tackled in the future.

In addition to developing concrete recommendations and ensuring compliance with transport policy priorities, the final submission must also make suggestions for the development of a medium and long term European strategy in support of inland waterway transport.

The closing date for tender submissions is 6 September 2010 at 16h00.
