The European Barge Union is holding its annual seminar on 18 March 2010 in Brussels. The theme of the seminar is “The future of transport – the role of inland navigation within the new white paper”.

The key note speech will be given by Mr Siim Kallas, Vice-President and Commissioner for Transport of the European Commission. Mr Etienne Schouppe, state secretary of the federal ministry of transport for Belgium and Mr Mathieu Grosch, in his role as rapporteur of the future of transport in the European Parliament's TRAN committee, will also address the meeting.

Mr Matthias Ruete, Director General at DG TREN, will chair the following panel discussion at which a number of panel members representing industry stakeholders will discuss the development of a sustainable future transport policy and system.
